Why are the USAF Security Forces K-9 Teams Are The Top Dogs? It is an easy question to answer. The United States Air Force Security Forces have a very important role when it comes to protecting America’s US Air Force assets. It is not an easy job and one that is beyond important due to the sensitivity of the military assets they protect. Security forces are responsbile for a variety of roles including missile security (and yes ladies and gentlemen this would include ICBM bases and silos), convoy actions, capture and recovery of nuclear weapons (as if this isn’t important enough), law enforcement, directing traffic and nonlethal tactics such as using pepper spray and pressure points on a body. It i a full menu of activities and roles that are so important their success has a zero tolerance for errors.

The Strategic Air Command’s Elite Guard, an Air Police unit first established in December 1956 to provide security at USAF SAC headquarters, was the first USAF unit officially authorized to wear a blue beret (with affixed SAC patch) in 1957 as part of their distinct Elite Guard uniform. Our Mission: Air Force Security Forces Center, Lackland AFB, Texas which is the central hib of the training and execution of USAF Security Forces mission and vision is described as the follows: It organizes, completes training and successfully equips US Air Force security forces all over the world. The center also develops force protection doctrine, programs and policies by planning and programming resources to execute a variety of missions of both nuclear and non-nuclear weapon system security, physical and information security, integrated base defense, combat arms and small tactic close in battle, law enforcement and the observation of following military justice and its policies and laws, antiterrorism, resource protection and corrections. Identifies and delivers emergent and future force protection to handle current world events and changes to the security of USAF assets and force application solutions through modeling and simulation to increase awareness and properly prepare the Air Force Security Force personnel. It also acts as the executive agency for the Department of Defense military working dog program.
